Job Title:        Staff Accountant

 

Job Location:        Houston, TX

 

Job Duties:    Perform general accounting, tax accounting, and consulting services in a public accounting firm. The duties include:

 

Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare month-end financial reports, including budget and historical variance analysis, as well as all general accounting functions; Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets; Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected financial position; Establish, modify and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures; Inspect items in books of original entry to determine if accepted accounting procedure was followed in recording transactions; Prepare and complete tax returns and reports related to federal, state, local, property, sales and other tax returns, and meeting all required federal, state, local, property and other tax filing deadlines; Interact with governmental agencies, including IRS and state tax agencies to receive, respond and keep track of routine correspondence, and resolve compliance issues and dispute on behalf of clients; Provide US, state and other specific special tax planning and non-recurring projects as needed, including carrying out tax research projects; Advise management on financial and budgeting matters, such as effective use of resources and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.


 

Requirements:     

 

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, plus two years of accounting related work experience

  • Solid knowledge/skills in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), COSO internal control framework, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel (Function, Pivot Table, Macro), Tax Law are required.
